JumiMouse (Free Version)
I’ve been having problems with a combination of carpel tunnel and now tennis elbow for awhile and I found a different way of dealing with the pain, by getting rid of the mouse, for most things. Now and then it’s easier to use the mouse but for the most part JumiMouse fills the space very well.
You’ve probably seen or even used other trackpad apps but of the ones I’ve...

A missing Tru
The fearless leader of THAR, trumcgowan, has been missing for 5 weeks now. No tweets, blogs, emails…nothing. His wakoopa even says that he hasn’t been online in all this time. As you can imagine, me and the fellow THAR contributors are quite worried about our space invader friend and hope that wherever he is, he is safe and sound. That said, if you know Tru “in real life”...

iHandy Level
Now I have never been one that concerns himself with things in his life being level. I always figured if something wasn’t level, well, that’s why the Flying Spaghetti Monster gave us bookends, duct tape, and velcro. Then I came across the iHandy Level app. This app is a perfect example of a developer seeing the potential of the iPhone and thinking outside the box to create something...

Recorder
A while back Tru reviewed an audio recording app called Record. I needed an app to do the same thing, but I thought I would try something different so I could use it as a review. I took a gander at the options and decided to go with Recorder…because it is like Record…but with errr at the end.
This app couldn’t be simpler. A blind monkey with brain damage and one finger could...

NatsuLion
NatsuLion is an iPhone app based off of the NatsuLion mac app.
Graphics and Interface: This app’s graphics are very similar to any other twitter app. There’s a ‘write’, ‘mark all as read’ and ‘reload’ button on the main timeline. There’s both a light and dark theme, which can be toggled on and off in the app’s settings, and you can...

Darkness 2.0
I reviewed the first version of Darkness the first week that THAR was online. Darkness has now been updated to 2.0.
Darkness is a world clock, but it does so much more than that. It can tell you the sunrise and sunset, the current moon phase, even the current altitude and azimuth of the sun.
Updates: This app has gone through a lot of changes, and all of them are good. The graphics have...

Pocket Tanks (Incoming!!!!)
This is war son….. get out there and blast the enemy with your…..Magic Beans?
Most of us have seen some sort of tank battle game, and Pocket Tanks has been around for a long time. It’s available on Mac and PC and finally it comes to the iphone/touch. This is as close as it gets to the PC version, and I paid for that version years ago and loved it. Disclaimer: I’m using a...

Corners
Corners is one of the best, least useful apps that I’ve ever used.
Gameplay (?) : Have you ever stared at a screensaver for hours, waiting for the logo that was bouncing off of your computer or tv screen’s ‘walls’ to hit exactly in the corner?
Corners brings this awesome and frustrating experience to your iPhone or iPod Touch. You simply watch the square bounce...

PicFree
PicFree is an app for sending MMS messages to cell phones. It is like the other app that Pinger (the dev) makes called TextFree for sending SMS messages to cellphones.
Functionality:
The app works as described and doesnt’t do much else. What it does is let you pick an image from your photo album or camera roll and send it to a cell phone. You have to type in the whole number with an...

Get Home
Get Home is a simple app designed to ‘get you home’ no matter where you are.
Getting Home: When you first launch Get Home you are prompted to either enter your home address, or use your current location as your home. When you get directions to your home using the app, this address/location will be used as the destination. You can also change your home location at any time by going...

LittleSnapper
LittleSnapper is a simple tool that uploads photos from your iPhone to QuickSnapper.
Graphics and Interface: I need to join pretty apps anonymous. I just can’t stop myself from buying them. This app is just downright gorgeous. All the buttons and menus have an awesome polish to them, and every function works just like it’s supposed to. The only complaint that I have is that the...

FML
I found this app while searching in the app store for entertainment apps. This app is not anything important by itself but the content that it delivers is great.
What it does:
This app reads content from a feed at fmylife.com. The content is little short anecdotes that people post about what has happened to them that is bad, and that makes them say “F MY LIFE!” The stories are...

Mactracker
MacTracker is a great app for mac that lists extensive details and specs for every model of apple device ever made. It has existed in both Mac and iPhone Webapp forms for a while, but just recently a MacTracker iPhone app was added to the app store.
Graphics and Interface: If you’ve used the MacTracker webapp before, you’ll be familiar with the interface of the iPhone app. Apple...

ez Currency
My time on this review site has been a few months now and I think it’s time i did a series of reviews..frogman does lightning reviews so it’s time I did something creative..or at least something..hence I will review a set of apps that can be downloaded separately or in one app together. The first of this group is called ez Currency.
Features: Converts any type of money you want...

Otis
Otis is a simple puzzle game, based off of other games such as Chain Shot, or JawBreaker. You win by simply tapping two or more of the same color blocks to remove them from the board, until all the blocks are cleared.
Graphics and Interface: Otis is very well designed, with no extra menus; just a start screen where you can select either easy, medium, or hard levels, a high score screen, and a...

Fluid (Your own personal puddle)
Fluid is a neat little diversion of an app. All it shows is a view from above of water over rocks. The rocks in this case are the out of the ground kind and not the scotch on the, or and roll kind. Just wipe your finger on the screen to make the water react very much like it should. It doesn’t react to the movement of your iphone/touch but this way you can use it at any angle without all...

Delivery Status Touch
The Delivery Status dashboard widget has been one of the most popular dashboard widgets and package trackers for mac for a while. You simply enter your item’s name, the tracking number, and the carrier that is shipping your package (the dashboard widget supports over 20 different carriers). I’ve always wanted to try out the iPhone version of this widget, but I don’t ship...

ShoveBox Mobile
I’ve used the desktop version of ShoveBox for a while, ever since I heard about it on MacBreak Weekly. It’s a simple, evernote-like notes app that you simply drop information into, and it can automatically organize that information. When I heard the news that a mobile version of ShoveBox was coming out, I immediately put it on the list of apps I wanted to review.
Interface: This...
The Frogman's Lightning Review #4
App: That’s What She Said Acting: Baldwin quality. (Stephen, not Alec) Verdict: It’s ducking horrendous What I’d rather be doing than use this app: Watch a Stephen Baldwin movie that he wrote, directed, and starred in. Also he’s decided to play multiple characters all with different accents, one with an eyepatch, and one is a woman…oh and it is 5 hours long.

Pastebud
Pastebud is a great set of bookmarklets that let you use copy and paste within mobile safari and mail on your iPhone. Then, when you see text that you want to copy, simply tap the COPY bookmark in mobile safari. A new page loads, in...
Chordmaster
Chordmaster is a guitar app that gives you quick access to pretty much every chord imaginable.
Often when I’m writing a song I’ll have a chord progression that I like, but I am missing one chord. It’s a very frustrating prospect. You start going through the chord catalog in your mind, trying to find something that works and you just start pulling chords out of your ass for a...

Conclusion: This is an easy to use app that can help with your tumblr needs..I’m not saying you will publish a...
BirdHouse
This is my Birdhouse. There are many like it, but this one is mine.
At first, BirdHouse may seem like a very weird twitter app, being that it has no friends timeline, no replies timeline, just your tweets. This is because BirdHouse is an app just for those who actually take time to compose their tweets. For instance, say you have something really funny to say, but you don’t think you can...

Darts (Watch where your throwing that thing!)
Darts, as a game in the real world, got old fast as a kid and soon I was more interested in what a sharp, weighted and aerodynamically shaped object could do when thrown with great force at other objects. My sister chose that time to test the grip of gravity on an inflated rubber ball with a ring shaped handle called a hippity hop. The metal tipped dart tends to lose velocity after a ricochet,...

Guest Review: Baseball Statistics 2009 Edition
Our guest reviewer, GabeMcG, writes:
In the classic film Back to the Future Part II (1989), Marty Mcfly purchases an almanac of sports statistics from 1950-2000 with the hope of bringing it back in time with him to use at winning bets. Were that film produced today, he no doubt would have downloaded Baseball Statistics 2009 Edition to his iPhone.
Complete major league stats for years 1871...
ThumbTacks Microphone
The two biggest drawbacks of having a Touch is the lack of camera and microphone. This causes you to lose functionality in quite a few very cool apps. While I don’t think there is much you can do about the lack of camera, there are solutions to the mic issue. The ThumbTacks is one such solution. It is an adorable little accessory for your iPod Touch or Nano 4G. Or even the iPhone if you...

RemoteTap
There are a couple of mac remote access apps in the iTunes app store, the most popular being LogMeIn Ignition. Unfortunately, it’s $30, so when I was looking for a remote access app I went on the cheap side and bought RemoteTap.
Remote Access: RemoteTap requires you to install the RemoteTap mac preferences pane that can be downloaded from the RemoteTap website. The pane, which works on...

Textfree
I have a friend that likes to slack off in her college classes by text messaging on her iPhone. She asked if I would assist her in this slacking, but since I have no cell phone, I wasn’t sure how I could text her. In comes the Textfree app. You can text any number, for free, over wifi with your iPod Touch.
Features: This app is very simple. You just punch in the number you want to text,...

Rolando
Rolando is an extremely addicting game that caught my attention the first day I owned an iPod Touch. You roll your Rolandos through the many levels of the game, learning new skills and meeting new creatures along the way. You can also collect jewels and...

Restoration-Despairation-Preparation
Recently my itunes said my Touch couldn’t sync because I needed more free space. I had just added a couple new apps so I thought one of them must have been bigger than I thought. But deleting them, and a few more, didn’t help. I deleted a lot more stuff but still itunes claimed I needed about a gigabyte more space. After trying everything I could think of, I got mad, and did a...

Nothing
Are you tired of getting something for your money? Yes I see you the one guy in the back who said yes..for that guy may I present..nothing. (lord I sound like Steve Jobs)

Conclusion: I like the quirkiness of nothing. It...
DoodleJump
DoodleJump is a game in which the whole objective is to jump as high as possible by bouncing your creature off of floating platforms.
Gameplay: In DoodleJump, the whole point of the game is to bounce off platforms to fly higher in the game, and at first I thought this app was EXACTLY like PapiJump, except with different graphics, but DoodleJump has some features that PapiJump doesn’t....

GravBall (It has missiles!)
Some games were just plain made for the ipod touch/iphone and GravBall is one of those games that wouldn’t work nearly as well anywhere else. There are many table top tilting games with the objective of steering a ball by tilting the device. This one however has guided missiles, and that means the rest of those games, should crawl off and die in shame. You’re not just bouncing off...
Shotgun: I kill you
I learned about this app from my friend Steven, who, during morning recess, showed it to me. I thought it was cool so I got on the school’s wifi (I have my own IP from the sysadmin there) and downloaded it. What it does is make noise like a shotgun (cocking, firing) and that is about it.
Graphics: Graphics are kinda lame. It has an outline of a shotgun against a brushed-aluminum...

FTP Picture Upload
This is the one app that I’ve wanted the most since I started THAR; It lets you upload a photo either taken with your iPhone camera from within the app, or from your camera roll to an FTP server.
Graphics and Interface: This app’s graphics are nothing to get excited about, but they do the job. The photos hanging from the drying line at the top of the main screen sway; this is a...

THAR Poll: About How Much Money have you Spent on...
You’re going to have to work a bit for this poll, but it’ll be worth it. (I went to iTunes, clicked on my account in the iTunes store, and went to my Purchase History and added up my app store purchases there.) Next week we’ll pick a random winner who will receive a free copy of iChalky, an extremely entertaining game for the iPhone and iPod Touch, and BatteryLog, a very useful...

iFari (Not A Fart App)
iFari, despite the name that sounds like it might be, its not a fart machine app. This is a great browser app if you want to keep your browsing history hidden from snoopers and anyone that you let use your iphone/touch. First of all it’s password protected at start-up and even though it’s a four number code that’s fine for when you hand it to a friend and would rather they...

Histogram
Histogram is a fairly recently added app. When I saw it scroll through my twitter stream via @148apps_newapps, I thought it could be interesting to see a histogram, on the iPhone, for some of my photos.
