Otis is a simple puzzle game, based off of other games such as Chain Shot, or JawBreaker. You win by simply tapping two or more of the same color blocks to remove them from the board, until all the blocks are cleared.

Graphics and Interface: Otis is very well designed, with no extra menus; just a start screen where you can select either easy, medium, or hard levels, a high score screen, and a help screen. When you start a new game, the blocks drop smoothly onto the board, and when you tap them, a number flashes onto the screen telling you how many points those blocks were worth. The app’s graphics are very polished, and it has a pretty home screen icon (very important).

Gameplay: Playing the game is simple; you just tap groups of two or more blocks to remove them from the board, gaining points along the way for large groups of blocks that you remove, and winning by clearing the board completely. Winning does take some strategy, so this is a good brain-un-numbing game. After you win a level you can enter your name into the app and be listed on the high score list.

Bottom Line: This is a shiny new version of a classic game that everyone can enjoy. The graphics are extremely well done, though I do wish the app remembered the name that I enter for my high score so I wouldn’t have to type it in every time. While Otis is a little expensive (for an iPhone game), it’s worth it if you’re looking for a fun game to play in those ‘waiting-in-a-line’ times.

I give Otis 4 out of 5 blocks that can’t be removed

Price: $2.99 (their website says $3.99, though)
