iFari, despite the name that sounds like it might be, its not a fart machine app. This is a great browser app if you want to keep your browsing history hidden from snoopers and anyone that you let use your iphone/touch. First of all it’s password protected at start-up and even though it’s a four number code that’s fine for when you hand it to a friend and would rather they didn’t go through your bookmarks or open pages to find out what you’ve been looking at. Sure a four digit code wouldn’t stop anyone with long term access, but then if you’re trying to overthrow a third world dictator and get captured, you have bigger problems than who knows you looked at naughty pictures.
iFari has its own bookmarks separate from the safari bookmarks and not quite as full featured (push the + and it sets the bookmark) but very nice anyway. There’s a forward and back button which is a welcome touch for a third party FREE browser. iFari even has an e-mail button, and when you push it, it automatically adds the url of your current page to the body of the e-mail. The e-mail portion of this app is connected to the contacts list of your device so you don’t have to type the “To” address every time. Notice in screenshot number two there is a search and refresh function at the top, which along with the design and other features I’ve mentioned, show this is not a slopped together, last minute app.
Pros: Privacy. Full featured. I like the black, white, and red color scheme but that’s a personal Pro. FREE is awesome.
Cons: It might draw attention to your nefarious activities. (What do you need that for honey?)
Botton Line: iFari is great as a second browser for any private browsing you’d rather not explain to whoever you explain stuff to (parent, spouse, friends etc..). If you don’t like safari for some reason this could become a primary browser without much trouble.
I give iFari Private Browser 5 Spy Satellites out 5.
